The newest member of our family...

After the worst 4 days of our lives we decided we wanted to continue to share our love with another dog. We started doing research and found a handful of Doberman Rescue Organizations. They are such a special breed and it was great to see how passionate other people where for Dobermans. We came across two rescues in particular. One in Fillmore and one in Sun Valley, CA. We planned on spending Saturday traveling the 2 hour trek up north to see if there was a match. On the way to Fillmore to visit Dobie Rescue and half way to Fillmore we received a phone call from Anne Marie from Rita's Rescue in Sun Valley. Rita has a pretty strict application process and we were in the middle of the process. I had e-mailed her and filled out a thorough application and still hadn't heard back. Rita had one Doberman that jumped out to us on her site. But we didn't want to get our hopes up since we didn't hear back from her. We were only 10 minutes away from Rita's when we received the phone call. We turned around and headed straight to her Kennel/Rescue. As we pulled up Rita and Anne Marie were out in the front yard with a beautiful young natural doberman - "Diego".
When we first walked out of the car up to the fence Diego started to bark since he was not used to us. As we entered into the yard he shivered and hid behind Rita. It only took a few minutes for him to warm up to us. He was the cutest thing you could ever see. He had a great personality and captured our hearts.
Within the hour we were on our way home with the newest member of our family.
That's the short version of the story.
We know we will never replace Bonita. We will always love Bonita with all of our hearts. But since she is gone it is time for a new chapter in our lives.
We are excited to give Diego a home and more love than he is going to know what to do with.
